Using Life Legacy
Terms of use
These terms govern the Life Legacy website, memorial service, accounts, QR-code plaques and purchases.

1. Provider and agreement
Life Legacy is a product and trading name of smartMI Services (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2015/350740/07, a South African company (“Life Legacy”, “we”, “us”). By accessing or purchasing the service, you agree to these terms and the policies linked from this page.
2. Eligibility and authority
You must be at least 18 and provide accurate information. You may create, administer or contribute to a memorial only when you have the necessary family authority and rights to the information and media you submit.
3. Accounts and family control
You are responsible for protecting login and activation details. The memorial administrator controls collaborators and publication. Contributors remain responsible for their submissions and give us permission to store, process and display approved material to operate the memorial.
4. Respectful and lawful content
You may not submit unlawful, threatening, discriminatory, deceptive, exploitative or infringing content, impersonate another person, expose sensitive information without authority, introduce harmful code or interfere with the service. We may restrict content or access to protect people, comply with law or preserve service security.
5. Packages, prices and payment
Prices are quoted in South African rand and the package description shown before checkout forms part of the purchase. Essential Memorial and Signature Memorial are once-off packages. Legacy Monthly is paid over 12 successful monthly payments; after all 12 payments the memorial is fully paid. Paystack or another disclosed payment provider may securely process payment information under its own terms.
6. Plaques, production and delivery
Engraving, spelling, memorial link and delivery details must be approved before production. Production begins after successful payment and approval. The order confirmation will state the available delivery method, charge and estimated timeframe. Physical appearance and lifespan depend on material, installation and conditions. 7. Cancellations and refunds
Cancellation and refund eligibility depends on whether digital access has started and whether a personalised plaque has entered production. Duplicate charges, non-delivery, faults and incorrectly described services are handled under our refund policy. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
8. Availability and permanence
We design for long-term stewardship, backups and migration, but cannot promise uninterrupted or perpetual availability. Planned maintenance, security work and events outside our reasonable control may affect access. We will take reasonable steps to restore the service and protect stored memorial content.
9. Intellectual property
Life Legacy software, branding and original site material belong to smartMI Services or its licensors. You retain rights in content you submit and grant only the permissions reasonably required to provide, secure, back up and display the service.
10. Suspension, deletion and records
We may suspend access for non-payment, misuse, security risk or legal necessity. You may request account deletion, subject to identity verification, lawful record retention and the rights of other memorial participants. Account deletion does not by itself create a refund or resolve an outstanding payment.
11. Liability and governing law
To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for indirect loss, user-supplied content or events outside our reasonable control. These terms are governed by South African law. Consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded remain in force.
